A raíz del accidente nuclear de Fukushima, en la UE van a realizarse tests de stress de todas las centrales nucleares. En España, el CSN ha decidido no realizar algunas de estas pruebas en nuestras centrales.

Greenpeace España recoge firmas a través de su web para exigir al CSN que a las nucleares españoles se le realicen todas las pruebas establecidas por la Comisión Europea:

Saludos, foreros, lamento no tener más tiempo del que tengo últimamente debido a un negativo imprevisto, de hecho llevaba días y días missing por el foro -y los que me queden...-.

Debido a la que parece grave situación en el Missouri (de la cual ya avisó algo también el Genio Jumanji) y en un tiempo el Mississippi casi podríamos abrir otro hilo propio para esa situación, pero por ahora lo sigo aquí (más vale que no haya que abrir otro propio...).

Antes que nada, sobre los test de stress en España: es muy posible que ni siquiera se atrevan a realizar aquí similares test sabiendo cómo estan desde hace años; es muy posible que similares test pudieran suponer un riesgo de la forma que están desde hace años. Sólo hay un test: cerrarlas antes de que alguna de ellas nos "cierre" a nosotros.

Pues volviendo al nuevo frente a la vista que tiene el mundo: (más vale que se invierta la dirección de los hechos...PORQUE SI HAY FUGAS MASIVAS ALLÍ, EN 5 DÍAS TENEMOS AQUÍ LA MIERDA !! y sería añadida a la que ya ha ido y seguirá llegando de Fukus.).


No sólo hay apagón informativo con Fukus, sino que también este grave percance se inicia en secreto, como veníamos viendo desde el día 6 de junio. Cómo se las gastan los regímenes occidentales que tanto criticaban al régimen soviético por tardar en informar y evacuar -3 días- la ciudad próxima, lo cual era mejorable, ciertamente, pero viendo los meses que lleva Japón sin evacuar zonas contaminadas y el secretismo de este nuevo suceso en EEUU -tras aquel de Harrisburg- no parece que puedan dar ejemplo de transparencia a NADIE.

A shocking report prepared by Russia’s Federal Atomic Energy Agency (FAAE) on information provided to them by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) states that the Obama regime has ordered a “total and complete” news blackout relating to any information regarding the near catastrophic meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant [photo top left] located in Nebraska.

According to this report, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant suffered a “catastrophic loss of cooling” to one of its idle spent fuel rod pools on 7 June after this plant was deluged with water caused by the historic flooding of the Missouri River which resulted in a fire causing the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to issue a “no-fly ban” over the area.
Located about 20 minutes outside downtown Omaha, the largest city in Nebraska, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant is owned by Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) who on their website denies their plant is at a “Level 4” emergency by stating: “This terminology is not accurate, and is not how emergencies at nuclear power plants are classified.”

Russian atomic scientists in this FAAE report, however, say that this OPPD (la TEPCO n americana) statement is an “outright falsehood” as all nuclear plants in the world operate under the guidelines of the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES) which clearly states the “events” occurring at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant do, indeed, put it in the “Level 4” emergency category of an “accident with local consequences” thus making this one of the worst nuclear accidents in US history.
Though this report confirms independent readings in the United States of “negligible release of nuclear gasses” related to this accident it warns that by the Obama regimes censoring of this event for “political purposes” it risks a “serious blowback” from the American public should they gain knowledge of this being hidden from them.

Interesting to note about this event was the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chief, Gregory B. Jaczko, blasting the Obama regime just days before the near meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant by declaring that “the policy of not enforcing most fire code violations at dozens of nuclear plants is “unacceptable” and has tied the hands of NRC inspectors.” (vaya, pero no decían que las chapuzas e imprevisiones sólo pasaban en la URSS?? parece que es endémico a esa industria)

This report further notes that the “cover-up” of this nuclear disaster by President Obama is being based on his “fantasy” of creating so-called green jobs which he (strangely) includes nuclear power into as his efforts to bankrupt the US coal industry proceed at a record breaking pace.
Unknown to the American people about Obama’s “war” on the US coal industry is it’s estimated to cost them over a 60% increase in their electricity bills by 2014 and cause over 250,000 jobs to be lost in an already beleaguered economy.

Continúa…More ominous for those American people whose lives depend on the coal industry that is being deliberately destroyed is the Obama regime’s massive “security exercise” currently ongoing in the major coal mining States of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, and as we can read about, in part, as reported by InfoWars.Com:
“If you’re still living under the delusion that the TSA is just restricted to airports then think again. A joint VIPR “security exercise” involving military personnel has Transportation Security Administration workers covering 5,000 miles and three states, illustrating once again how the TSA is turning into a literal occupying army for domestic repression in America.
The TSA, in alliance with a whole host of federal, state, local agencies as well as military personnel, is currently conducting a massive “security exercise” throughout Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
“The participating teams are composed of a variety of TSA assets including federal air marshals, canine teams, inspectors and bomb appraisal officers. They will be joined by state and local law enforcement officials to supplement existing resources, provide detection and response capabilities. The exercise will utilize multiple airborne assets, including Blackhawk helicopters and fixed wing aircraft as well as waterborne and surface teams,” reports the Marietta Times.
Although the exercise is couched in serious rhetoric about preparedness, it relates to “no specific threat” and the details are nebulous to say the least and seems to revolve around little else than testing out high-tech surveillance equipment and reminding Americans who their bosses are.”
Obama’s fears of the American people turning against nuclear power, should its true dangers be known, appear to be valid as both Germany and Italy (whose people, unlike the Americans, have been told the truth) have turned against it after the disaster in Japan and vowed to close all of their atomic plants.
Perhaps even more sadly for the American people is this report stating that the Obama regime is “walking in lockstep” with Japan in their attempts to keep the truth of nuclear accidents from their citizens; which in the case of the Japanese can only be labeled as horrific as new evidence points to them knowing within hours of the Great Tsunami that their atomic reactors had melted down, but have only today ordered an evacuation of pregnant women from what are called “radiation hotspots.”
With a country that some scientists are now warning may soon become uninhabitable due to radiation damage, and with reports of mutant rabbits and radioactive whales now being reported, one wonders if in knowing the truth the American people would really want to follow Japan’s “example” instead of those people in Germany and Italy?
But, with an already documented 35% increase in the infant mortality rate for American mothers living in the western coastal regions of the US caused by radiation blowing onto them from Japan being ignored by these people there doesn’t seem to be much hope for them.

Fukushima: Es mucho peor de lo que se imagina

"Fukushima es la peor catástrofe industrial de la historia de la humanidad”, dijo a Al Jazeera, Arnold Gundersen ex vicepresidente de la industria nuclear.
El terremoto de 9 grados de Japón del 11 de marzo causó un inmenso tsunami que inhabilitó los sistemas de enfriamiento de la planta nuclear de Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) en Fukushima, Japón. También causó explosiones de hidrógeno y fusiones de reactores que obligaron a evacuar a los residentes en un radio de 20 km de la planta.
Gundersen, operador licenciado de reactores con 39 años de experiencia en el diseño de plantas nucleares y en la administración y coordinación de proyectos en 70 plantas de energía nuclear en todo EE.UU. dice que la planta nuclear de Fukushima tiene probablemente más núcleos de reactores expuestos de lo que se cree comúnmente.
“Fukushima tiene tres reactores nucleares expuestos y cuatro núcleos de combustible expuestos,” dijo, “Probablemente hay el equivalente a 20 núcleos de reactores nucleares debido a los núcleos de combustible, todos necesitan desesperdamente que los enfríen y no hay medios para enfriarlos efectivamente”.

A pesar de que la planta se ha cerrado, los productos de fisión como euranio siguen generando calor, y por ello requiere enfriamiento.

“Ahora los combustibles son una masa informe fundida en el fondo del reactor agregó Gundersen. “TEPCO anunció que tuvieron un ‘melt through’, es decir una fusión en la que el combustible fundido pasa a través del fondo del reactor al medio ambiente. Una fusión del núcleo [meltdown] es cuando el combustible fundido cae al fondo del reactor, y un melt through significa que se ha fundido a través de varias capas. Esa masa informe es increíblemente radioactiva, y ahora hay agua sobre ella. El agua absorbe enormes cantidades de radiación, de modo que se agrega más agua y se generan cientos de miles de toneladas de agua fuertemente radioactiva.”
Científicos independientes han estado monitoreando la ubicación de lugares radioactivos peligrosos en todo Japón y sus resultados son desconcertantes.

“Tenemos 20 núcleos nucleares expuestos, los tanques de combustible tienen varios núcleos cada uno, es decir, un potencial que hay que liberar 20 veces mayor que el de Chernóbil”, dijo Gundersen. “Los datos que estoy viendo muestran que estamos encontrando lugares peligrosos más lejos que en el caso de Chernóbil, y la cantidad de radiación en muchos de ellos era la cantidad que llevó a que algunas áreas se declarasen tierra de nadie en Chernóbil. Vemos que se encuentran kilómetros cuadrados a 60 y 70 kilómetros del reactor. No se puede limpiar todo eso. Todavía hay jabalíes radioactivos en Alemania, 30 años después de Chernóbil.”

Monitores de radiación para niños
La Central de Reacción de Emergencia Nuclear de Japón terminó admitiendo a principios de este mes que los reactores 1, 2 y 3 de la planta de Fukushima sufrieron fusiones nucleares totales.
TEPCO anunció que el accidente probablemente liberó más material radioactivo al entorno que Chernóbil, convirtiéndolo en el peor accidente nuclear conocido.

Mientras tanto, un asesor de residuos nucleares del gobierno japonés informó de que es probable que cerca de 966 kilómetros cuadrados alrededor de la planta –un área aproximadamente 17 veces el tamaño de Manhattan– sean ahora inhabitables.

En EEUU. la doctora Janette Sherman y el epidemiólogo Joseph Mangano publicaron un ensayo que señalaba un 35% de aumento en la mortalidad infantil en ciudades del noroeste [de EE.UU.] después de la fusión nuclear en Fukushima, y podría ser el resultado de lluvia radioactiva de la planta nuclear accidentada.
Las ocho ciudades incluidas en el informe son San Jose, Berkeley, San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, Portland, Seattle y Boise, y el período considerado en el informe incluye las diez semanas inmediatamente posteriores al desastre.
“Existe –y debe haber– preocupación sobre la exposición de gente joven, y el gobierno japonés va a entregar monitores de radiación a los niños”, dijo al doctor MV Ramana, físico del Programa sobre Ciencia y Seguridad Global en la Universidad de Princeton, especialista en temas de seguridad nuclear.
El doctor Ramana explicó que cree que la amenaza primordial de radiación sigue existiendo, sobre todo para residentes que viven en un radio de 50 km. alrededor de la planta, pero agregó: “Va a haber áreas fuera de la zona de evacuación obligatoria de 20 km del gobierno japonés en las que la radiación será mayor. De modo que eso podría significar que haya zonas de evacuación también en esas áreas.”

Gundersen señala que se liberó mucha más radiación de la que se ha declarado.
“Volvieron a calcular la cantidad de radiación liberada, pero las noticias no hablan realmente del tema”, dijo. “Los nuevos cálculos muestran que en la primera semana después del accidente, liberaron 2,3 veces tanta radiación como la que pensaron que habían liberado en los primeros 80 días”.
Según Gundersen, los reactores y núcleos de combustible expuestos siguen liberando micrones de isótopos de cesio, estroncio y plutonio. Los llaman “hot particles” (partículas peligrosas).
“Estamos descubriendo partículas peligrosas por doquier en Japón, incluso en Tokio” dijo.
“Los científicos las encuentran por todas partes. Durante los últimos 90 días esas partículas peligrosas han seguido cayendo y se están depositando en altas concentraciones. Mucha gente las recolecta en los filtros de aire de los motores de los coches.

Los filtros de aire radioactivos de coches en la prefectura Fukushima y Tokio son ahora comunes, y Gundersen dice que sus fuentes también encuentran filtros de aire radioactivos en la gran área de Seattle de EE.UU.
Las partículas peligrosas que contienen también pueden terminar provocando cáncer.
“Se fijan en los pulmones o en el tracto gastrointestinal y son un irritante constante”, explicó. “Un cigarrillo no te mata, pero con el tiempo lo hace. Estas [partículas peligrosas] pueden causar cáncer, pero no se pueden medir con un contador Geiger. Evidentemente la gente de Fukushima ha aspirado esas partículas en grandes cantidades. Evidentemente, hay gente en la Costa Oeste superior de EE.UU. que está siendo afectada. Esa área resultó bastante afectada en abril.
¿Culpar a EE.UU.?
Como reacción a la catástrofe de Fukushima, Alemania va a eliminar progresivamente todos sus reactores nucleares durante la próxima década. En un referendo de este lunes, un 95% de los italianos votó a favor de bloquear el renacimiento de la energía nuclear en su país. Un reciente sondeo de la prensa en Japón muestra que cerca de tres cuartos de los encuestados están a favor de una eliminación progresiva de la energía nuclear en su país.
¿Por qué no suenan las alarmas sobre la exposición a la radiación en EE.UU.?
El operador nuclear Exelon Corporation fue uno de los mayores donantes en la campaña electoral de Barack Obama y es uno de los mayores empleadores en Illinois donde Obama fue senador. Exelon ha donado hasta ahora más de 269.000 dólares a sus campañas políticas. Obama también nombró al presidente ejecutivo de Exelon, John Rowe, para su Comisión Cinta Azul sobre el Futuro Nuclear de EE.UU.

El doctor Shoji Sawada es un físico teórico de partículas y profesor emérito de la Universidad Nagoya en Japón. Le preocupan los modelos de plantas nucleares en su país, y el hecho de que la mayoría de ellas sea de diseño estadounidense.
“La mayoría de los reactores de Japón fueron diseñados por compañías a las que no les interesaba el efecto de terremotos”, dijo el doctor Sawada a Al Jazeera. “Pienso que este problema se aplica a todas las centrales de energía nuclear en todo Japón”.
El uso de energía nuclear para producir electricidad en Japón es un producto de la política nuclear de EE.UU. El doctor Sawada piensa que es una parte muy importante del problema.
“La mayoría de los científicos japoneses en aquella época, a mediados de los años cincuenta, consideraba que la tecnología de la energía nuclear estaba en desarrollo o no suficientemente establecida, y que era demasiado temprano para darle un uso práctico”, explicó. “El Consejo de Científicos de Japón recomendó al gobierno japonés que no utilizara todavía esa tecnología, pero el gobierno aceptó el uso de uranio enriquecido para alimentar centrales de energía nuclear, y por lo tanto se vio sometido a la política del gobierno de EE.UU.”
Cuando tenía 13 años, el doctor Sawada vivió el ataque nuclear de EE.UU. contra Japón desde su casa, situada a solo 1.400 metros del epicentro de la bomba de Hiroshima.
“Pienso que el accidente de Fukushima ha llevado al pueblo japonés a abandonar el mito de que las estaciones de energía nuclear son seguras”, dijo. “Ahora las opiniones del pueblo japonés han cambiado rápidamente. Mucho más de la mitad de la población cree que Japón debiera orientarse hacia la electricidad natural.”
Un problema de infinitas proporciones
El doctor Ramana espera que los reactores y los núcleos de combustible de la planta estén suficientemente fríos para un cierre dentro de dos años.
“Pero se necesitará mucho tiempo antes de que el combustible se pueda remover del reactor”, agregó. “No cabe duda de que habrá que encarar el problema de las grietas y del peligro en la estructura y de la radiación en el área durante varios años”.
El doctor Sawada no se expresa con tanta claridad sobre cuánto podría tardar un cierre frío, pero dijo que el problema serán “los efectos del cesio-137 que permanece en el suelo y el agua contaminada alrededor de la planta eléctrica y debajo. Encararlo tomará un año, o más.
Gundersen señaló que las unidades siguen emitiendo radiación.
“Todavía están emitiendo gases radioactivos y una cantidad enorme de líquido radioactivo”, dijo. “Pasará por lo menos un año antes de que deje de hervir, y hasta que deje de hervir estará produciendo vapor y líquidos radioactivos”.
Gundersen está preocupado por réplicas del terremoto, así como por el enfriamiento de dos de las unidades.
“La unidad cuatro es la más peligrosa, podría colapsar,” dijo. “Después del terremoto en Sumatra hubo una réplica de 8,6 unos 90 días después, de modo que todavía no estamos a salvo. Y estamos en una situación en la que si pasa algo no existe ciencia para eso, nadie ha imaginado jamás que haya combustible nuclear caliente fuera del tanque. No han encontrado una manera de enfriar las unidades tres y cuatro.”
La evaluación de Gundersen sobre una solución de esta crisis es sombría.
“Las unidades de uno a tres tienen desechos nucleares en el fondo, el núcleo fundido, y contienen plutonio que habrá que eliminar del entorno durante cientos de miles de años”, dijo. “Además, tendrán que entrar con robots y conseguir colocarlo en un contenedor para guardarlo infinitamente, y esa tecnología no existe. Nadie sabe cómo recoger el núcleo fundido del suelo, y no existe una solución actualmente para hacerlo.”
El doctor Sawada dice que la fisión nuclear genera materiales radioactivos para los que simplemente no existe el conocimiento necesario para informarnos sobre cómo disponer con seguridad del desecho radioactivo.
“Hasta que sepamos cómo disponer con seguridad de los materiales radioactivos generados por las plantas nucleares, deberíamos postergar esas actividades a fin de no causar más daño a futuras generaciones”, explicó. “Hacer otra cosa es simplemente un acto inmoral, y creo en eso tanto como científico y como superviviente del bombardeo atómico de Hiroshima”. 2 / 3

Gundersen cree que los expertos necesitarán por lo menos diez años para diseñar e implementar el plan.
“De modo que entre diez y 15 años, desde ahora, tal vez podamos decir que los reactores se han desmantelado, y mientras tanto no se pondrá fin a la contaminación del agua,” dijo Gundersen. “Ya vemos estroncio [a] 250 veces los límites permisibles en el nivel acuífero en Fukushima. Los niveles acuíferos contaminados son increíblemente difíciles de limpiar. Por lo tanto pienso que tendremos un acuífero contaminado en el área de la planta de Fukushima durante mucho, mucho tiempo.”
Por desgracia, la historia de los desastres nucleares parece respaldar la evaluación de Gundersen.
“Con Three Mile Island y Chernóbil, y ahora con Fukushima, se puede precisar el día y la hora exacta en la que comenzaron”, dijo, “pero nunca terminan”.

KAWAGUCHI, Saitama — The city government here has set the maximum radiation dose for children at 1.64 millisieverts per year, making it the first local government in Japan to implement its own radiation exposure standard.

I’m here at a local playground in Kashiwa Japan just taking some geiger counter readings. Yes that is 6.46µSv/h right there on the play ground! The kids just keep on playing, its actually very sad if you think about it. Many of us here have been desperately trying to raise awareness. However, the government is still trying to keep this out of the news.

After the Army released near record water from six major reservoirs, levees have failed to hold the Missouri River so flooding now poses a “serious threat” to Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant according to today’s International Business Times article.
IBTimes Staff Reporter reported at 4:17 AM EDT that “Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant was reportedly very close to getting engulfed by the floodwaters, raising fears of a crisis similar to Japan’s Fukushima disaster.”
The nuclear plant declared the event as “unusual.”
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has maintained that there was no risk of disaster. MIT graduate software engineer expert and nuclear researcher Arthur Hu has noted, however, that Fort Calhoun nuclear plant’s “dry-storage bunker is half-submerged outside the condom,” writes seasoned nuclear researcher/journalist Tom Burnett. IBTimes refers today to the Reuters report that federal officials widened flood gates last week to allow record, or near-record water releases to ease pressure on six major reservoirs swollen by heavy rains and melting snow.
“But later in the week, Missouri River floodwaters reached a levee built up to protect Hamburg, Iowa, after the main protection along the river failed, a county emergency official said.”
Despite lowering nuclear power plant regulations and dismissing some safety threats, “industry and government officials defend their actions, and insist that no chances are being taken,” reported Daily Mail at MailOnline today, referring to the extensive Associated Press nuclear industry investigation report recently released.
Negligence was the bottom line of the AP report. “Examples abound,” Daily Mail says.
“[N]egligence is destined to to bring the plants closer to a catastrophic accident that could harm millions and jeopardize the future of nuclear power in the U.S.”

Cuando aparecen marrones pronto empiezan a simular enfrentamientos los organismos reguladores con las empresas acusándolas de incumplir normativas. En el caso de Calhoun hubo polémica la semana pasada porque decían que estaba fría para recarga, pero un experto se apresuró a señalar que mienten, que 2/3 del combustible estaba dentro y bien calentito.
También los de Calhoun dijeron por esos días que el agua que había entrado EN EL EDIFICIO DE CONTENCIÓN!! EN REALIDAD ESTABA ALLÍ PORQUE HABÍAN DEJADO QUE ENTRARA PARA REFRIGERAR BARRAS DE COMBUSTIBLE !!! O SEA: QUE LA CENTRAL METE AGUA SUCIA Y LLENA DE TIERRA DEL RÍO PARA REFRIGERAR???? ¿TAN DESESPERADOS ESTABAN PARA ENFRIAR TRAS EL INCENDIO Y PÉRDIDA DE REFRIGERACIÓN DE HACE 1 SEMANA???
O estaban tan desesperados o es que realmente el agua se metió donde no debían pero no querían reconocer que se coló. Y por cierto, otro experto comentaba su temor de que ese montón de agua pudiera haber dañado partes delicadas o bombas de agua.
Repito: más vale que no pase nada en esas 2 ni luego en las del Mississipi cuando baje la riada, PORQUE EN 5 DÍAS TENEMOS AQUÍ MÍS MIERDA!!

han pasado 100 dias de crisis, la mas duradera y ruinosa de la historia de la industria mundial, y en estos cien dias hemos asistido en numerosas ocasiones como "respetados" personajes han hecho declaraciones, una detras de la otra, para quedar en evidencia ante lo disparatado y patetico de la situacion, que la industria nuclear no tiene ni el conocimiento ni la razon, pero sobre todo, tampoco la capacidad para resolver este delito que ellos han cometido con un movil puramente economico.


y que, como todo el mundo piensa ya, que la energia nuclear ni es segura, ni barata, ni rentable. todo lo contrario, como sabemos con certeza absoluta por que ha quedado demostrado sobradamente, la energia nuclear solo acarrea ruina, sufrimiento y desolacion.


por un lado, los partners de tepco, tanto el buque insignia del lobby nuclear areva, (enfrascada en tensiones intestinas debido al fracaso absoluto de su negocio por la paralizacion de todos los proyectos que tenian en su cartera, se empeñan ahora en sacarse los ojos unos a otros por que no pueden aceptar que, en lo sucesivo, tendran que dedicarse a otra cosa...) y general electric, el protagonista de la hecatombe, juntos en mutuo interes en tapar sus verguenzas, andan enviando a japon sus "inventos" para intentar ayudar a tepco a limpiar lo que no tiene limpieza posible.


esta semana hemos visto atonitos como la maquinaria que envio areva para descontaminar los cientos de miles de toneladas de agua extremadamente radiactiva en fukushima ha fracasado estrepitosamente, cuando a las 5 horas de estar siendo utilizada ha dejado de funcionar por la saturacion que el material nuclear ha producido en sus sistemas de filtraje. es lamentable que apenas hayan podido limpiar unos cuantos metros cubicos cuando la esperanza era que con ese dispositivo se podrian purificar la totalidad de los cientos de de miles de toneladas acumuladas peligrosamente en los sotanos y tuneles de la central.
estos dos "pura sangres" nucleares a que estan jugando con japon (y con nosotros)?. a la prueba y el error?...dan palos de ciego, realmente estan perdidos, no saben por donde se andan!...


la semana anterior se encontro tambien que las expectativas y sus conjeturas eran falsas, que el terremoto ya habia hecho el trabajo "bruto" de la catastrofe, dejando al sunami solamente los "remates", pero cuesta trabajo encontrar en la prensa que fukushima no resistio el terremoto, que las conducciones y los sistemas de refrigeracion ya estaban destrozados antes de que el sunami apagara los generadores de respaldo.


tambien cuesta trabajo encontrar en la prensa que los tres nucleos estan fundidos y sus vasijas de contencion gravemente dañadas. pero siguen añadiendo agua a razon de 500 toneladas diarias que amenazan con rebosar, con lo que ademas de filtrarse como ya lo estan haciendo, tambien se verteran en la superficie y de nuevo sobre el oceano, pero esta vez con una brutal potencia de destruccion fuera de toda posibilidad de cuantificacion.


es totalmente surealista intentar enfriar toda esa amalgama de combustible gastado y reactores simplemete vertiendo agua por encima, de la misma manera que lo es la solucion apuntada de cubrir los cuatro reactores con una especie de enorme "tienda de campaña" de plastico con el fin de evitar la salida de la radiacion al exterior, asi como la entrada de agua de lluvia al interior, que podria contribuir al desborde cuando la temporada de lluvias se acerque a japon. es surealista y hay que ser muy cretino para pensar que nos vamos a creer que asi van a conseguir algo positivo. es patetico.


por eso los ciudadanos de todo el mundo (que no somos fisicos nucleares, pero tampoco somos tontos), comenzando por los alemanes y seguidos de los italianos, estan mostrando su rechazo firme a continuar con esta situacion de riesgo flagrante y alevoso que amenaza a la humanidad. no hay encuesta en la que la energia nuclear salga bien parada, siendo una mayoria siempre apalastante la que opina que lo mejor es dejar esta aberracion cuanto antes, ya que no hemos tenido el coraje ni la oportunidad de evitarlo, por lo menos ya, que menos que intentar remediarlo cuanto antes.


pero no basta con tener la razon, nos hace falta la fuerza para imponerla, de la misma manera que por la fuerza nos han impuesto a todos esta lacra con mentiras y fanfarronadas. tenemos que contestar a su violencia extrema con argumentos sencillos y tangibles que demuestren que no podemos esperar mas con esta incertidumbre mientras ellos solo aspiran a no parar de ganar dinero a costa de nuestra propia destruccion.

U.S. nuclear power plant operators haven't figured out how to quickly detect leaks of radioactive water from aging pipes that snake underneath the sites — and the leaks, often undetected for years, are not going to stop, according to a new report by congressional investigators.
The report by the Government Accountability Office was released by two congressmen (deben ser los Sampol y Herrera americanos...) Tuesday in response to an Associated Press investigation that shows three-quarters of America's 65 nuclear plant sites have leaked radioactive tritium, sometimes into groundwater.
Separately, two senators asked the GAO, the auditing and watchdog arm of Congress, to investigate the findings of the ongoing AP series Aging Nukes, which concludes that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the nuclear power industry have worked closely to keep old reactors operating within safety standards by weakening them, or not enforcing the rules.
A third senator, independent Bernie Sanders of Vermont, said the AP series has raised disturbing

allegations about safety at aging plants and reiterated his demand that the Vermont Yankee plant be shut.
In the report released Tuesday by Democratic Reps. Edward J. Markey of Massachusetts and Peter Welch of Vermont, the GAO concluded that while a voluntary initiative that industry recently adopted is supposed to identify leaks, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission doesn't know how fast problems are detected.
"Absent such an assessment, we continue to believe that NRC has no assurance that the Groundwater Protection Initiative will lead to prompt detection of underground piping system leaks as nuclear power plants age," the report's authors concluded. No leak is known to have reached aquifers that hold the drinking water supplies of public utilities, though tritium, a radioactive form of hydrogen, has contaminated residential drinking wells near at least three nuclear power plants. The tritium in those wells did not surpass the federal health standard. Though mildly radioactive, tritium poses the greatest risk of causing cancer when it ends up in drinking water.

The operator of the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant, - the Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, says in a statement that radiation levels in the basement of the second reactor is excessively high, with the level of accumulated water exceeding 6 metres.
According to experts, the abrupt jump in radiation may have been prompted by radioactive substance leaks from the lower pressure maintenance chamber.
According to a TEPCO official, excessive radiation will not halt the ongoing repair work.

TEPCO, the operator company of the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant, has so far been unable to start the entire process of cleaning up the radioactive water that’s accumulated in the plant’s underground rooms.
The equipment to decontaminate radioactive water was put into operation on Friday night. But high radiation levels and technical malfunctions crippled parts just five hours later.

One cannot help but wonder how far efforts being made by the national government and Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) to bring the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant under control have progressed.
Two months have passed since TEPCO first unveiled a roadmap for bringing the crippled plant under control, but various problems that have occurred since then show the roadmap was overly optimistic. [...]
It is also not clear what officials mean when they refer to stability of the plant, when we have not only a meltdown in the inner containment vessels, but the possibility of melted fuel having made its way to the outer containment vessels. TSURUGA, Japan — Three hundred miles southwest of Fukushima, at a nuclear reactor perched on the slopes of this rustic peninsula, engineers are engaged in another precarious struggle.

The Monju prototype fast-breeder reactor — a long-troubled national project — has been in a precarious state of shutdown since a 3.3-ton device crashed into the reactor’s inner vessel, cutting off access to the plutonium and uranium fuel rods at its core.

Engineers have tried in vain since the accident last August to recover the device, which appears to have gotten stuck. They will make another attempt as early as next week.

But critics warn that the recovery process is fraught with dangers because the plant uses large quantities of liquid sodium, a highly flammable substance, to cool the nuclear fuel.

The Monju reactor, which forms the cornerstone of a national project by resource-poor Japan to reuse and eventually produce nuclear fuel, shows the tensions between the scale of Japan’s nuclear ambitions and the risks.

The plant, a $12 billion project, has a history of safety lapses. It was shuttered for 14 years after a devastating fire in 1995, one of Japan’s most serious nuclear accidents before the crisis this year at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. Prefecture and city officials found that the operator had tampered with video images of the fire to hide the scale of the disaster. A top manager at the plant recently committed suicide, on the day that Japan’s atomic energy agency announced the cost of efforts to recover the device. And, like several other nuclear reactors, Monju lies on an active fault.

Even if the device can be removed, restarting the reactor will be risky, given its safety record and its use of highly toxic plutonium as fuel, said Hideyuki Ban, co-director of the Citizens’ Nuclear Information Center, a nuclear watchdog, and a member of an advisory government committee on Japan’s long-term nuclear energy policy. The plant is 60 miles from Kyoto, a city of 1.5 million people, and the fast-breeder design of the reactor makes it more prone to Chernobyl-type runaway reactions in the case of a severe accident, critics say.

“Let’s say they make this fix, which is very complicated,” Mr. Ban said. “The rest of the reactor remains highly dangerous. And an accident at Monju would have catastrophic consequences beyond what we are seeing at Fukushima.”

One can go absolutely crazy trying to track and understand units of radioactivity and by the end of this article I hope to have made it comprehensible. Fortunately for me physics was my favorite subject and I did teach a semester of it in a technical college many years ago in Maine. So confusing though are the many different units that even for me the challenge is daunting. (Actually I will get around to a physics lecture in another essay.)

Bottom Line: 10,000 terabecquerels (10,000,000,000,000,000 becquerels) of radioactive substances will be released into the atmosphere from the plant during the coming three months, according to simple calculations based on the estimated emission rate as of April 5. It is now safe to assume that there will be a lot of radiation circling at high altitudes and all that stuff is going to come down everywhere eventually, especially when it rains or snows. Where is all this radiation coming from?

“I’ve been studying overhead photographs of Fukushima. It is very disturbing,” said Robert Alvarez, formerly a senior policy adviser at the Energy Department under Clinton. “The steel wall of the pool seems to show damage. All the surrounding equipment, including the two cranes, has been destroyed. There is smoke coming from reactor No. 3, and steam coming from the spent-fuel pool next to it. That indicates that the water in the pool is boiling.

“And that means the spent-fuel rods are getting hot and could start burning. If the rods start to burn, huge amounts of radioactive material would be released into the atmosphere and would disperse across the northern hemisphere. Unlike the reactors, spent-fuel pools are not—I repeat not—housed in any sort of hardened or sealed containment structures. Rather, the fuel rods are packed tightly together in pools of water that are often several stories above ground…” continued Alvarez.

Dr. Chris Busby said that three spent-fuel pools have burned, which he calculates puts the radiation levels at 24,000 Hiroshimas x 3 spent-fuel pools, or 72,000 times the radiation of Hiroshima now in the atmosphere. This amount represents only that from the spent-fuel pools. Radiation will continue to escape from the reactors until entombed. Perhaps it would have been better if we had fought a limited nuclear war instead!

What’s the official story? Radioactive levels were about 250 times higher than a month before. TEPCO said the levels of caesium-134 and -137 increased about 250-fold and iodine-131 increased about 12 times compared with one month ago, after the accident had already happened. The water level in the No. 4 reactor’s turbine building rose by 20 centimeters in 10 days. TEPCO has detected 8,100 becquerels of caesium-137 and 7,800 becquerels of caesium-134 per cubic centimeter in the water in the turbine building’s basement. The utility company said on Tuesday the 26th of April that the water level in the tunnel of the No. 3 reactor rose by 10 centimeters over three days.

Of course all this radiation at the plant is hampering work to bring the accident under control. If trends continue it might easily become impossible to approach the plant meaning the chances of ever getting the disaster under control are decreasing with each passing week.

Most of us are in shock—the consequences are so dramatic and will be with us for so long it is beyond most people’s psychological capacity to deal with the full reality, and governments are happy to assist in ensuring that we stay in our comfort—not panic—zone.

We are in the middle of a planet-changing historic event that has extinction of life written all over it, and the best evidence we have of this is actually seen in the complete censorship of hard facts about this nuclear disaster by the media and our government.

Everyone should watch this video at least twice. Dr. Chris Busby is the number one most trusted scientist in the world on this and the implications are stupendous. This is so bad that they cannot talk about it in the media at all and that’s exactly what they are doing, not talking at all.
When Busby says this is a serious matter he is meaning serious in terms of life and death. I have friends in Hawaii and many on the west coast in California and they all have front-row seats to the open nuclear furnaces in Japan. I wish I was allowed to start cursing in public meaning my language would turn fowl right at this very particular point.

Plutonium goes up into the air in huge explosion and we hear nothing of it? Where is the plutonium story???? Where did it go or is it going into the lungs of millions in the northern hemisphere as we speak? They might as well have pulled up front-row seats as when people actually watched the atomic bomb blasts!

The Plutonium Angel of Death
Plutonium represents certain death; it is death, concentrated in nuclear form. Riders of death come swooping down from the upper air currents on plutonium steeds and just one tiny particle of it has a deadly effect if it touches down anywhere inside of human or beast. But don’t worry about this and do what your governments want you to do. They want you to proceed with your life as if everything is normal. And while you do, they want you to spend and borrow and do anything you can to keep the deteriorating economy and financial system from collapsing altogether. The last thing they want you to know is that an alien race of nuclear super particles called plutonium are gathering and scattering around the world like Hun Hordes. We have this going on already with mercury and other heavy metals and chemicals; now the toxic soup on our planet is going nuclear in a big way and it will continue that way into an increasingly toxic and frightening future. We have just had another disaster on a day 11 and it has already changed the world in a very dirty and nuclear direction.

I really hope I am coming in loud and clear. Geiger counters measure decays but they do not tell you what kinds of particles are decaying. It is confusing, it is invisible and not even our Geiger counters tell us the whole story of increasing dangers that surround us. Anyone who thinks life is going to be the same on our planet with multiple open nuclear sores ripping apart the soft skin of our ecology and physiology is mistaken.

Nuclear harm happens in ultra slow motion. Yes it can happen in days, weeks and months to a few but the harm to the many happens in the years and decades that follow. We don’t look down and see that we are now sterile until we cannot participate in a conception. Cancer does not start between one day and the next. But these days tornadoes do.

Nature Threatens
Deadly tornado outbreaks are attacking the underbelly of America killing and destroying many and much. Yesterday the storms dealt a severe blow to the Tennessee Valley Authority on Wednesday, causing three nuclear reactors in Alabama to shut down, knocking out 11 high-voltage power lines, the utility and regulators said. All three units at TVA’s 3,274-megawatt Browns Ferry nuclear plant in Alabama tripped about 5:30 EDT (2230 GMT) after losing outside power to the plant, a spokesman for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Agency said.
The earth is literally blowing its top (volcanic activity) and we are already threatened with intense cooling because of the materials being vented into the atmosphere from not one but many volcanoes coming to life. And yet geologists are hinting we have not even come close to the opening curtain where the intensifying earthquakes and eruptions come to a climax.

The earth beneath these Japanese feet is not stable andneither is the entire world as we have just recently entered an era of dramatically increasing seismic and volcanic activity. Most of us are used to watching just about everything from our arm chairs in front of our television sets but today world events are beginning to come down just about everyone’s block. If it’s not flooding it is drought and fire and if it’s not record-breaking temperatures in terms of heat its record-breaking cold.
Will Japan ever stop shaking? A 6.0 quake brings aftershock total to 1,071 in 43 days since the atomic disaster began. None of these quakes are bringing any rest to those who fear the breaking of one more pipe at the nuclear plant. We actually have a lot more to worry about now than ever though the serious worrying should have started decades ago before they built nuclear plants in dangerous places all over the world.

On April 7, just one month after the 3/11 earthquake in northeastern Japan, there was a large aftershock. At the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant the electricitywas shut off . The pool containing nuclear fuel and the radioactive liquid waste were (barely) cooled down by the emergency generators, meaning that Japan was brought to the brink of destruction. But the Japanese media, as usual, paid this almost no notice.

The Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant is where expended nuclear fuel from all of Japan’s nuclear power plants is collected, and then reprocessed so as to separate out the plutonium, the uranium, and the remaining highly radioactive liquid waste. In short, it is the most dangerous factory in the world.

At the Rokkasho plant, 240 cubic meters of radioactive liquid waste are now stored. A failure to take care of this properly could lead to a nuclear catastrophe surpassing the meltdown of a reactor. This liquid waste continuously generates heat, and must be constantly cooled. But if an earthquake were to damage the cooling pipes or cut off the electricity, the liquid would begin to boil. According to an analysis prepared by the German nuclear industry, an explosion of this facility could expose persons within a 100 kilometer radius from the plant to radiation 10 to 100 times the lethal level, which presumably means instant death.

There are many accidents waiting to happen and many happening that we are not paying close attention to like the huge oil leak now happening in the Arctic Circle.

Food Crisis is Intensifying
Since from before the nuclear crisis we were already entering a terrible disaster in terms of food security and now this month the president of the World Bank has warned that the world is “one shock away from a full-blown crisis.” Robert Zoellick cited rising food prices as the main threat to poor nations who risk “losing a generation.”

Prayers in Europe this Easter holiday weekend are not being heard in the heavens (or by anyone else around the world it seems) as they face serious fears over the wheat harvest , its impact on already sky-high global food prices and, of course, devastating brush fires all from the lack of rain. We are not hearing much from China but their wheat also is not coming up strongly because of drought. Texas is in real danger of burning to the ground and exploding with all the oil wells and natural gas they have all around with their worst drought in memory taking the state down.

Commodities have been going absolutely ballistic for months. Price increases in other commodities like wheat, beans, and rice, which have, for the most part, been subdued on the consumer retail side because companies were willing to take the margin compression for a while, are now becoming a painful reality. The most stunning aspect of the price increases is that they have occurred not in the last year, but over the last 90 days.

I know most are hoping for a return to normalcy, even the Federal Reserve, which wants to stop the emergency buying of every government bond in sight. But if interest rates go up, America is finished. The head of the NRC toured the Fort Calhoun Nuclear plant which is now underwater. A 10 mile evacuation around the plant has been ordered, but all references of the evacuation have been scrubbed from online news sites.

“We do have robust systems in place to protect public health and safety,” NRC spokeswoman Lara Uselding said. Mr. Jaczko’s visit came 8 hours after a protective berm collapsed early Sunday, causing water to surround the containment buildings and key electrical equipment at the Fort Calhoun plant. Local officials in towns around the plant, which is 19 miles north of Omaha, weren’t concerned about safety at the plant Monday, saying operators there had the situation under control. The plant is operated by the Omaha Public Power District. Rod Storm, the city administrator of Blair, said officials in the town of about 8,000 people near the plant are more worried about keeping the city’s wastewater treatment facility running so it can pump about 10 million gallons of water a day to local industries. The facility sits on the bank of the Missouri River. “We’ve got a lot to worry about and the event at the nuclear facility is the least of our worries,” Mr. Storm said.

These days we don’t hear too much about the ailing nuclear reactors in Fukushima Japan, but make no mistake the situation at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant remains very serious. Now the U.S. is dealing with it’s own potentially serious nuclear situation in Nebraska. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) said the breach in the 2,000-foot inflatable berm around the Fort Calhoun station occurred around 1:25 a.m. local time. More than 2 feet of water rushed in around containment buildings and electrical transformers at the 478-megawatt facility located 20 miles north of Omaha. Reactor shutdown cooling and spent-fuel pool cooling were unaffected, the NRC said. The plant, operated by the Omaha Public Power District, has been off line since April for refueling. Crews activated emergency diesel generators after the breach, but restored normal electrical power by Sunday afternoon, the NRC said. Buildings at the Fort Calhoun plant are watertight, the agency said. It noted that the cause of the berm breach is under investigation.

But a Google news search for 10 mile fort calhoun evacuation shows no results about the evacuation, only articles talking about how hard it would be to evacuate a 10 mile radius around many of the US nuclear plants.
There also has been an Fort Calhoun evacuation map posted on the (NEMA) Nebraska Emergency Management Website. However, Google shows that it has been there since at least the 17th of June and that indicates officials saw this coming.

The page also has detailed instructions on how to evacuate away from a radiation plume from different parts of the state.
Salt TV reports that the water is now up to 2 feet high around the sides of the building, but the NRC says there is no danager.
Jaczko toured the station 19 miles north of Omaha to see the flooding at the nation’s smallest nuclear power plant, the Omaha World-Herald reported. The river was more than 2 feet up around the building with months of flood conditions remaining.
“It’s certainly clear that this is not an issue that’s going to go away anytime soon,” Jaczko said.

The reason there is a problem and why they aren’t telling the truth is because, while Fukishima is equivalent to about twenty Chernobyls, Ft. Calhoun is equivalent to about twenty Fukushimas.
Not because it has a lot of reactors – or even a very big one. But because it is holding an immense amount of nuclear fuel in its cooling pool.
This isn’t some elevated bathtub like the cooling pools at Fukushima. Oh, no. This cooling pool is forty feet UNDER GROUND AND forty feet ABOVE GROUND. It’s EIGHTY FEET DEEP IN TOTAL. If they can’t cool it, the corn belt is in trouble.
I’m guessing that it’s the big rectangular building behind-left (actually touching) the round nuclear reactor containment building.
Why do I think that? Because it has no windows or ventilation and it’s about the only building on-site large enough to hold the amount of spent nuclear fuel it has to hold – and, by the way, it was filled up to capacity in 2006 – which is why they had to start storing the excess spent fuel rods in those concrete dry casks outside of the pool. But I could be wrong. If I am, please send me a diagram – not an opiniongram.
The dry casks are visible near the top of the picture. They are grey concrete blocks set together on the large, grey square area.
The casks have white doors facing a little to the left in the photo. The NRC says there is ‘no problem’ should the casks become partially submerged by Missouri flood waters.
The back-up generators are probably flooded as well. They were ALSO what the rubber dam was in place to protect. Even if they aren’t, there is water in the electrical system. That’s what the yellow cards from the NRC were about last year – and those cards were never signed off as safe. There are at least six and probably dozens of NRC and government people there ‘closely monitoring’ the plant. All they can do is watch.
The ‘emergency’ plans were only thought up when the water started rising and were only implemented beginning on June 6. Before then, the plant owners were still pissing back and forth with the NRC that a flood that bad couldn’t happen. And the brilliant rubber condom around the plant didn’t just burst by itself. The dumbasses were piddling around and managed to pop it themselves!
As I pointed previously there are numerous problems facing the Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant.

The cooling pumps are being ran off backup generators and workers are carrying the fuel to plant by hand to keep the generators running.

The union of concerned scientists say another 3 feet of water and there is a 100% chance of core meltdown.
The Union of Concerned Scientists often complains about Nuclear Regulatory Commission inaction — the agency’s failure to enforce its regulations prohibiting unmonitored and uncontrolled releases of radioactively contaminated water, the agency’s tolerance of four dozen reactors operating in violation of fire protection regulations, and so on.
Today, we commend the NRC in action.
Flood waters in Nebraska have reached the Fort Calhoun nuclear plant. But whatever threat flooding poses to the plant, that risk is lower today due to actions taken last year by the NRC. During their routine inspections of weather protection readiness in 2010, the NRC’s inspectors found a commitment in the plant’s design and licensing reports stating that vital safety equipment located in the auxiliary building would be protected against a flood rising to 1014 feet above mean sea level.
The NRC’s inspectors determined that the plant’s design did not fulfill this commitment. In fact, NRC estimated there was a 100% chance of reactor core damage caused by a flood rising above 1010 feet.
